I was recently asked if I could share how I make one of my teas on TikTok. This really made my heart sing; my goal is to help others use botanicals in their every day lives; as a means for support . Whether that’s through a tincture, a salve or a basic blend of herbs.
One of my go to teas is an organic hibiscus lemon tea. Made with whole dried hibiscus flowers, dried Meyer lemon slices and rose-hips.
A good rule of thumb for dried herbal tea is 1 tsp herbs per 8 ounces of hot water. Do not boil your herbs in water, rather steep them in tea infuser or directly into your cup of hot water. I like to let my teas steep at least 5 minutes, but depending on taste you may chose to subtract or add to steep time.
But why tea?? The health benefits of this particular blend are high in antioxidants, fights bacteria and inflammation. This leads to a more supported immune system.
